Her experience when wearing the hijab in a day, carrying a 21-year-old British woman began studying Islam. Even at last, she converted to Islam, the religion of the world population of 1.6 billion.
Jessica Rhodes origin Norwich, initially just for fun. She took part in the World Hijab Day, February 1, 2013. She challenged herself would wear the hijab for a month.
World Hijab Day is an annual event initiated to remove the misconception that say hijab is a symbol of oppression of women in Islam. And Jessica Rhodes is one of the non-Muslim women who participated in the event.
Once dressed as a Muslim, Jessica said she could not imagine if she went out of the house without wearing the hijab. That experience made Jessica began to learn more about Islam.
"I started to read the Qur'an and the words in it seemed logical and clear," she said. To explore her new religion, Jessica doing research on Islam in a comprehensive manner. Until she discovered that religion can provide answers that he's been looking for.
When deciding to convert to Islam, Jessica got a variety of reactions.
First, her parents were not happy but they accepted her decision. While the brother-in-law strongly supports Jessica decision.
Secondly, the reaction of Jessica's friends. There are friends, who supports Jessica, and there is also who were not support her. Even, some do not want to be friends with Jessica because of her decision.
The young British new Muslim, said many people are born as Muslims fail to reach the converts like her. New Muslims were sometimes confused, where to ask about religion.
"Despite the support, but not many who come to me and taught Islam," complained Jessica. "I should always ask them."
Another thing that makes Jessica confused is a misconception in the differing interpretations of the Qur'an, can lead to a real conflict. Jessica thought that most Muslims have a narrow way of thinking about the different interpretations of the Qur'an. (dream)
